Avoid Disruptions When Legacy Salesforce Host Name Redirections End

The latest Salesforce Release Notes update (check out the full Summer 2025 Release Notes) ends temporary redirection of legacy (non-enhanced) host names in production and demo orgs. Redirection already ended in all other orgs as of Winter ’25. First introduced in Spring ’25, the change becomes mandatory in Spring ’26. It will be here before you know it.

Who’s Affected:
These changes apply to Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic (where available) across Group, Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions.

Timeline:

  • Winter ’26: Legacy host name redirection will be automatically disabled unless you opt out beforehand.
  • Spring ’26: The change is fully enforced, and redirection can no longer be reenabled!!!

To find your org’s upgrade date, visit Trust Status, search for your My Domain or instance, and check the Maintenance tab.

What You Need to Do:

  1. In Setup, search for Release Updates, then select the one titled Update References to Legacy Host Names. Follow the testing and activation steps.
  2. To opt out temporarily, go to Setup > My Domain, and in the Redirections section, click Edit. Check the option Maintain legacy redirections during the Winter ’26 upgrade, then save. Repeat for each production or demo org.

Drop me a question in the Comments if you have any questions or doubts about these changes.
